Our School
At Fairview School, we believe, “Every Child, Every Day, Do Your Best the Eagle Way."
Located in the heart of Sylva, Fairview serves students in Pre-K through 8th Grade.
We consider our students, staff, and school community to be family; the Fairview family. We promote a school climate that is supportive and inclusive of all students. Our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program (PBIS) teaches students the skills they need to be successful at school and contribute positively to the world at large.
At Fairview, we are "Eagles for Excellence." Academic excellence is a priority. We provide instruction that is research-based and aligned to NCDPI curriculum standards, but also contains that "something extra." Fairview teachers are inventive, creative, and find ways to spark engagement in students and excite them about learning about the world around them.
Fairview School offers several extra-curricular and enrichment activities in addition to the excellent instruction provided by our teachers. These include athletics for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, LEGO Robotics, Chess Club, Battle of the Books, Fairview Chorus, Running Club, and New Century Scholars. We are always looking for new ways to connect students to the school community. Have ideas? Let us know!
We host several community events for families throughout the school year. These include Meet the Teacher Night, Science Night, Literacy Night, P.E. Nights, Student Talent Show, and other grade-level programs.
Fairview has a very supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA Board meets monthly to discuss projects for our school. All parents are encouraged to join and welcome to attend these meetings. It is a great time to learn more about the school and connect with other parents. Our PTA has helped provide many instructional tools for our school and students.
Through the years, thousands of students and families have come and gone through our door of Fairview School, but we have a saying:
"Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!"We mean this sentiment with our whole hearts.
